Convert a PDF into an e-invoice: ZUGFeRD and XRechnung
A PDF is an e-invoice only when it contains the invoice data as XML. Enter the details of your PDF invoice in the form. invowerk turns them into a ZUGFeRD PDF or an XRechnung and checks the file before download.
How your PDF invoice becomes an e-invoice
- Enter the details from your PDF invoice in the form.
- Choose the format: ZUGFeRD PDF for businesses, XRechnung for public authorities.
- Look at the preview and download the file.
Why a regular PDF is not an e-invoice
ZUGFeRD and XRechnung contain the invoice data as an XML file that software can read. A ZUGFeRD PDF is a PDF/A-3 with an embedded XML file. An XRechnung is the XML file alone.
A regular PDF invoice shows the details only as text or an image. Programs that read out such PDFs can misread an amount, a date or the IBAN.
That is why invowerk builds the invoice from the details in the form. invowerk calculates the amounts from quantity, unit price and VAT rate. The new PDF has its own plain layout, not the look of your template.
Your data
invowerk stores no invoice content. Your details as the invoice issuer and your logo stay in your browser. For your next invoice, they are already in the form.
Checked before download
invowerk checks every file before download. The XRechnung is checked by the KoSIT validator, the validation program of the Coordination Office for IT Standards (KoSIT). invowerk checks the ZUGFeRD PDF against the FeRD validation rules and for PDF/A. invowerk does not hand out a file with errors.
Downloading needs a free account. How many e-invoices your plan includes is on the pricing page.
No tax advice (keine steuerliche Beratung). invowerk creates and checks the technical format. You choose the categories, tax rates and amounts yourself. invowerk does not check whether they are correct.
