What the KoSIT validator checks

The KoSIT validator checks XML files but has no rules of its own. The rules come from a validation configuration. The XRechnung configuration contains the XML schemas for UBL and CII and the rules of EN 16931 and XRechnung.

How invowerk uses the KoSIT validator

invowerk checks every XRechnung with the KoSIT validator and the XRechnung configuration. The version in use is listed on the test bench. For every message, invowerk shows the cause and the fix. When the KoSIT validator cannot be reached, invowerk checks with the same rules itself and says so in the result.

What the KoSIT validator does not check

The ZUGFeRD profiles MINIMUM, BASIC WL, BASIC and EXTENDED are not part of the XRechnung configuration. For them, invowerk applies the FeRD validation rules and checks the PDF for PDF/A. The KoSIT validator does not check whether the content and the amounts are correct.

Run the KoSIT validator yourself

The KoSIT validator is open source (Apache 2.0) and needs Java 11 or later. The program and the XRechnung configuration are on GitHub. Run it in the folder of the unzipped configuration:

java -jar validator-<version>-standalone.jar -s scenarios.xml -r ${PWD} -h rechnung.xml

For many invoices or your own software, invowerk also checks by API.
